“Anyway, film adaptations of novels are sometimes prone to failure not because they are too faithless but too faithful: why spend all that effort producing an audiobook with pictures?”
This quote from Cloud Atlas seems quite apt, as the film adaptation of the novel has finally been premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and will soon be released in the US. I loved the complexity of this book but fear I will be disappointed by the film – how faithful should the movie be to the many very involved and very varied plot lines? Go too far either way and there is a big risk of it either being too bland or just not making any sense.
Unfortunately I will have to wait until February to find out.
