Well known and unknown

“Some people have difficulty telling the difference between something great and something they’ve simply heard of.”
Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha

This quote neatly sums up what I was trying to say yesterday regarding books that only become popular because so many people are talking about them. The most popular aren’t necessarily the most well written, in my opinion. Also, although I do read a lot of best-selling books, sometimes I would rather search for something a little obscure and not very well known. There are some real gems out there that get overshadowed by those books that are rightly or wrongly on the top of the best seller list.
