I have notebook upon notebook full of scribblings similar to this – the first draft of the first Inspector Morse mystery, written by Colin Dexter while on a rainy holiday in Wales in 1975. The crossings out, the words circled, the arrows pointing out where the words belong, the different coloured pens used in desperate effort to avoid confusion. You can see the passion for the story that has been written in each scribbled annotation.
This original manuscript is expected to fetch £50,000 at auction. If only my notebooks could command such a price. Maybe one day.
