Yesterday I finally saw the film adaptation of what could possibly be my favourite book – Cloud Atlas. This article by the books author, David Mitchell, sees him describing how such a complex novel can be translated into the language of film, which if course is very different to the language of a novel. All the best parts of the novel were, in my opinion, translated into the language of film as well as they could have been. Part of me had built myself up for a disappointment equalling that of the viewing of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin (I don’t think I’ll ever get over that one). It seems that Mitchell himself had his reservations, and seemingly hasn’t been disappointed by the end result. And neither was I.
