Quality versus quantity

“In the case of good books, the point is not to see how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.”

Mortimer J. Adler

This neatly sums up my point from yesterdays post about reading challenges. I set myself a challenge of reading 25 books this year, just for fun, and if I don’t manage it, I won’t just read a few trashy short novellas just to make up the numbers. (not that all novellas are trashy, but you know what I mean). Every book I read won’t be a masterpeice, and no doubt some of them I won’t like at all, so it will be interesting to judge my 2013 challenge not just by how many books I get through, but by how many of them really end up meaning something to me.
