Christmas is a time for giving and receiving, and every year books become more and more of a staple present. Book sales and seller ad campaigns are a big topic at this time of year.
There is a divide, though, between people who would like to list the books they want, to make sure they will definitely enjoy reading them, and those who are happy for others to choose a title they think the recipient will enjoy. Which are you? Do you like a literary surprise, or would you be disappointed to receive a book that you hadn’t chosen yourself?
These are some books from my wish list this year. I would say I would probably prefer to choose than get a surprise, though last year I received a book as a Secret Santa gift and ended up really enjoying it – The Likeness by Tana French. Sometimes, then, it can work out very well.
